Thankful
Everywhere we go this week, people are thankful. Posting thankful lists, sharing thankful memes, some have even been doing a 25 day thankful thing on Facebook where they post each day what they're thankful for. Who am I not to put my own thankful list? I always did like bullet points anyway.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Here goes:
- First of all I am thankful to the subject of this blog. Tyler. For 14 years of unconditional love, unswerving loyalty, and being without a doubt the best cat ever. Tyler quite literally saved my life and taught me how to love, and I am forever grateful. This is my second thanksgiving without you, and I miss you as much today as the first day you crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I hope they have lots of turkey for you today old man, it's not the same without you waltzing across the table like you were the one paying the rent.
- To Tiger, Tyler's cat brother from another cat mother. You came into our lives at just the right time and stole our hearts, particularly Tyler. You were the brother he never had and I wouldn't have missed the four years you spent with us for the world.
- To Jackson, Tiger's successor and Tyler's last roommate. Thank you for always seeing to my comfort and relaxation. You cared for Tyler in his last days and watched over him as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and I will forever be in your debt for that. It's not a lazy day without you in my lap, warm, curled up and fast asleep. It Isn't a good night's sleep without you curled up in the crook of my legs. You had a big year this year, but you overcame with bravery and gusto. Looking forward to many years with you asleep on my lap, sweetums.
- To Sophie. Never in my life would I have expected a cat to fill the massive void left by Tyler's passing, but you did it. You not only filled his shoes (or paws) with your many "Tylerisms," you stole the show and became the matriarch of this little family. Any day that starts out with one of your hugs is going to be a good day. There will be plenty of Turkey for you today, my princess.
- I am thankful for my new job. For the wonderful people I work with and the great stuff we do. I have not been this fulfilled in my career in two decades. Looking forward to going to work is a great feeling!
- Last, but certainly not least, I am thankful to.....YOU. My readers. Thank you for following me on this journey. For your likes, posts, shares, comments, support, and love. Tyler would have appreciated it. I appreciate it. Thank you!
So there you have it. Now go eat! Spend time with your loved ones. Eat way too much of everything. Watch whatever you like to watch today, enjoy the day off, and bask in the glow of holiday cheer. We deserve it!
Happy Thanksgiving!
