Tyler's World Animal Sanctuary

I settled into my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee to go to work yesterday, a rare cold Saturday morning in what has otherwise been unseasonably warm weather.  As I waited for my ancient Jeep's V6 to warm up, I noticed a small tuxedo cat run down the block.  He (I'm assuming it's a he) didn't notice me, but I noticed him.  He looked cold, skinny, hungry, more than a little scared, and desperate to get somewhere safe and away from danger.

Poor little dude, I thought.  If he noticed me I surely would have shared some of my ham and cheese sandwich with him, not that he would have even approached me.

My thoughts immediately went to Tyler.  He was a homeless cat too, stuck in a shelter with hundreds of other homeless cats.  A little more than fifteen years ago, he greeted me at the door when I first visited his shelter, and I was hooked for life. The next day, he was rescued from that shelter, and spent the rest of his life in a warm, safe home.  He knew love, he knew comfort, he wanted for nothing.

Why shouldn't every cat know that feeling?  Why can't every cat be saved off the streets, safe, warm, with food to eat, a window to look out of and a warm bed to sleep on?

It's impossible, you say?

I say it's possible.

With that, an idea formed in my head.  Why not MAKE it happen?  Why not figure out a way to save EVERY cat, and do WHATEVER it takes to see that every cat knows what it's like to be safe and loved, as my cats know. Tyler gave me more love, more companionship, than I every thought I would feel in my life.  He was always there for me, he never let me down.  I want to do more to honor his memory than blog and share photos with my wonderful readers.

I want EVERY cat to have what Tyler had.

It can happen.  It WILL happen.

Welcome to.......Tyler's World Animal Sanctuary!

My project for 2016.  Open an animal sanctuary, or partner with an existing one, start rescuing cats, and start making a difference, one feline at a time.

Right now it's a name and a small idea, but the plan, the thoughts, are forming in my head.

Let's make it happen.  Together.  One feline at a time.

For Tyler
