Tucker and Minnie share a birthday!
Now....back to celebrating and commemorating happy feline occasions.
This coming Wednesday, July 11th, is a big day in my feline household.
It's a double birthday!
Tucker turns 5!
Minnie Turns 1!
Not only that, but July 11th marks 6 months since Minnie ended her life on the streets and became the happiest female house cat in the world.
Talk about a day of celebrations, right?
As is often the case with my cats, I never know their actual birthday, so I make up one for them. Why not? Cats deserve birthday celebrations too, right? I've always thought so. I have never and will never consider them my pets. No. They're family. Family members always get to celebrate birthdays, so there you go.
Tucker got backdated to 7/11/13 based on his age when I adopted him. Minnie got backdated to 7/11/17 because there was no possible way she was any older than that without having given birth already to kittens of her own, so we made her birthday last July.
Makes sense to me!
To Tucker, happy 5th birthday little boy. Your shelter life is a distant and fading memory. Seeing you so happy, so settled in your life as a house cat warms my heart and gives me a reason to carry on most mornings. Sure, you could use some more table manners, but so what. What's mine is yours, always. You are such a good, sweet boy. The love you show me knows no bounds, and when you're asleep stretched across my chest, there is no place on earth I'd rather be. Not a lap cat my ass!
I also adore seeing the bond you have with Sophie. You may just be the first cat she's actually fallen in love with, and that's quite an accomplishment.
You are worth of the title of.....my sweetums.
To Minnie, happy 1st birthday and 6-month adopt-a-versary. It's quite often I gaze at you, asleep on my lap or at my side every night, and wonder in amazement at how you came to be in my life. Through some miracle beyond my comprehension, you showed up at our door one day and instantly stole the show and my heart. You are a one of a kind cat and more special than you realize. You also remind me so much of Tyler it's uncanny, and not because you happen to be a tuxedo cat like he was. Your playfulness is something that's been missing for many years, even the way you run behind the couch to spite me is something Tyler was so good at. You pull at my strings, you press my buttons, but seeing you SO VERY HAPPY and content, seeing you safe, knowing you never have to worry about your next meal or where to sleep again makes it all worth it.
You're worth it, Minnie.
Thanks for showing up last fall.
