Tyler's history with dogs: Part One
My step-son Peter's girlfriend has a little dog named Pockie.
Or is it Pocky.
I can't remember exactly how it's spelled. Anyway, Pockie (I prefer that spelling) is a (I literally just asked Ashley for confirmation) Maltese/Shih-tzu mix.
Would that make Pockie a Malte-Shit? A Shih-Tese?
You're laughing right? You better be.
Anyway, she's a sweet, and very cute little dog, who sometimes pops by for a visit if Peter and his girlfriend, who is half his height and in a different part of the earth's atmosphere, stop by in their endless gallivanting across Long Island.
Pockie is no Macauley, Tyler's canine best friend, but she comes damn close. She's sweet, pleasant, loves to travel, and a good lap dog.
I know what you're all thinking, dear readers, get to the part about cats!
Patience.
Tucker, to his credit, could care less about Pockie when she's here. Now nearly three years into being the happiest former shelter cat in the world, Tucker has grown, for the most part, quite unflappable.
Basement floods due to poor plumbing? Tucker can sleep through that.
Dog stops by and runs around playing and eating his food and drinking his water and plays with cat toys? Tucker sleeps through THAT.
Sophie, fast approaching 10 years of age without losing a step, also could, in the words of Ashley, give ZERO FUCKS.
Oh, that dog thing is here, whatever.....YAWN.
That is literally Sophie's reaction.
Minnie? That's a different story.
Minnie is GONE whenever Pockie shows up in one of her cute little dog sweatshirts.
Gone. Hidden behind the couch, or the bed, and does not come out ONCE, unless she can glue herself to my lap.
Minnie is NOT a dog fan, for reasons only she knows. Perhaps a dog spooked her during her days as a stray?
Who knows. One thing is for sure, Minnie and dogs do not mix. As soon as Pockie leaves, Minnie is back to normal.
As I am certain that Minnie is Tyler reincarnated, it got me thinking about Tyler's lifetime with dogs.
From the first dogs he encountered with me when friends would visit, to his nine-year friendship with Macauley, his all time favorite dog.
Sounds like the makings of a great new Tyler-focused series of blogs, right?
I agree.
